Q: How old do I have to be to get a Mississippi real estate license?
A: You must be a resident of Mississippi and be 18 years of age to sit for the Salesperson’s exam or 21 years of age to sit for the Broker’s exam.
Q: What do I need to do to qualify to become a real estate salesperson?
A: You will need to have completed a minimum of 60 hours in specified courses in real estate. The MS Association of Realtors, as well as other providers, regularly offer classes throughout the state that will enable you to meet these educational requirements.
Q: How and where do I get the hours required for me to sit for my test?
A: Call the Mississippi Association of Realtors in Jackson for dates and locations of pre-licensing classes. You can go on-line to msrealtors.org or call Kaye Ladd at Tommy Morgan Inc., Realtors @ 662-823-6272.
Q: How much does it cost to take the PSI salesperson’s test?
A: There is an application fee of $135.00 and a test fee of $75.00 to take the test.
Q: Where is the test given?
A: The test is offered daily at PSI testing centers all over the U.S. There are centers in Jackson MS, Memphis, TN and Huntsville AL.
Q: If I fail the test, can I take it again?
A: Yes, you can re-schedule to take the test, but you will have to pay $75.00 each time you take it.
Q: Do I have to have a real estate Broker sponsor me to take the test?
A: You must have a sponsoring broker in order to get your license.
Q: Does it matter which Broker sponsors me?
A: Yes, it is vitally important that you work under a broker who has taken an interest in you and has explained what is to be expected of you. It is MOST important that you work for a company where you have real estate training and supervision.
